The Literacy Center 2021 Annual Report

Design:

Print Design & Web Design

The Literacy Center is a private, non-profit organization that empowers adults through community-based literacy education. Founded in 1977, they’ve served residents of the Lehigh Valley, helping them improve their lives, their families, and their community by strengthening their literacy skills.

They reached out to update their 2021 Annual Report. Initially, they wanted a traditional report booklet to show to stakeholders, board members, and potential donors. After a few meetings, we agreed to create something more engaging and dynamic to not only showcase the wonderful things The Literacy Center has achieved but also to show how innovative the center truly is.

Report Folder

This year’s annual report breaks tradition. Instead of the regular booklet, the report comprises several broadsides and pamphlets housed in a folder.

This design is important because it is modular and allows staff to customize the viewer’s experience depending on whether they share it with a stakeholder or future donor.

Report Materials

The report materials outline traditional content like program outcomes, the board, staff, background information, and goals.

New content was added to include student testimonials, student spotlights, and even volunteer spotlights to highlight the significance of TLC's impact on everyone interacting with it.

Online Microsite

Due to the pandemic, The Literacy Center shifted many of its communications online allowing them to reach a wider audience. We created a microsite to house the annual report so it can be shared with potential donors worldwide.

The online annual report contains all the same information as the printed version, but it can be shared to even more people.
