Cut Corner Studio is a crafter space in the Bensalem Branch at Bucks County Free Library. It is a co-working where crafters throughout the community come together to work on projects, share their knowledge, take classes to learn new skills, and network with one another. The space features state–of–the–art equipment like heat presses, vinyl cutters, button makers, embroidery machines, and 3d printers.

Although the space is open to all, the brand targets a younger generation of crafters, moms, and “Etsy–entrepreneurs.” The brand revolves around earth tones, natural textures, and dynamic visuals to inspire members of the space while also serving as a space to relax and unwind with a good crafting session away from the stresses of the outside world.

Logo

The logo pulls inspiration from the high-end craft community and is designed to be stamped, embroidered, and branded. Using a high-contrast font like Orpheus and a low-contrast font like Futura combines drama, elegance, and modernity.

Color Palette

The color palette is inspired by natural, earthy substances. The studio is made to feel like a place to relax and unwind while crafting. It is a refuge from the outside hustle and bustle of the world.

Poster Campaign

Posters were dispersed around the county at places where the target demographic visits for leisure. Posters were displayed at parks, boutiques, community centers, and independently-run art & craft stores.

Instagram Stories Campaign

Running a cross-analysis of the library’s current patrons and our target demographic, we realized a sizable segment of our target audience wasn’t patrons. To boost reach, we created social media ads to garner attention from outside of the library community, and to increase reach after the poster campaign.

Influencer Invites

We partnered with local micro-influencers to generate buzz about the space. We sent out invitations for them to tour the space while it was being built, asked for feedback, and offered them exclusive looks as we tested new technology and projects.

Studio Supplies

Once the space was completed, we offered bespoke project journals, washi tape, and project guides to the first 100 patrons who registered to use the space. Crafter cards were given to each participant and shows staff which equipment they are trained and allowed to use.

Signage & Environmental Graphics

Signage is placed throughout the library to update patrons on the Studio’s status. Additional signage was created and placed in front of each piece of equipment to notify users of potential safety hazards while using the equipment.

A mural was created to make the space feel more welcoming and immerse crafters in a creative space.
